There are several ways a shopper can go about getting an auto insurance quote. The original way of doing this is by calling a few local agents around town and seeing which one can save you the most. Calls typically take about 10 minutes each if you call Captive Agents and a little longer if you choose to call an Independent Agent. Captive Agents only represent one company where as Independent Agents represent several.

Several companies are now offering online insurance quotes. Most if not all Captive insurance companies offer this type of quote service on the web. There are also several comparative rating systems out there that will let you request a quote online which is then sent to several local Agencies within your state. Although this is an effective way to get a good price on car insurance, this can become a nuisance.

When you use our system to request a quote we connect you with a single licensed Independent Agent in your area who has the ability to quote with several companies. You have the option of selected the Agent or you may leave the selecting to us. Our selected Agent for your area will take the information submitted and quote it with several ‘A’ rated insurance Carriers. After all the work is completed on the Agents side they may then simply contact you with the rate.

There are several benefits to working with an Independent Agency for all of your insurance needs. One of the more obvious benefits is the Independent Agent’s ability to quote your insurance with several companies.

Depending on the Agency your local independent Agent will take your quote information and input it into a Quomation or lynx system which then pulls rates from several carriers. After the initial quote is processed the Agent will then bridge over to each individual company system making sure each quote is rated accurately. This process can be timely but is very much necessary.

As an independent Agent I sometimes will take up to 30 minutes on an auto insurance quote since there are so many companies we can quote it with. If your an Independent Insurance Agent representing 15 companies, that only gives us Agents about 2 minutes per quote. Some Clients simply send over their existing insurance declarations sheet with a message saying call me later. Your existing policy declarations sheet contains most of the information needed in order o supply an accurate rate quote. Sometimes there is information not contained on a declarations page such as your Drivers license number(s), driving history and date of birth(s).
