The law in the State of Texas requires Drivers to maintain the minimum liability coverage shown below:
$25,000 for (B.I) bodily injuries to 1 person.
$50,000 for (B.I) bodily injuries to 2+ people per occurence.
$25,000 liability to cover the other person’s (P.D) property damage.
Note: Liability coverage covers the other Driver, not yourself. This coverage is to protect yourself from lawsuits that may occure if you are found negligent in an auto accident. Minimum limits required by Texas are higher than many other states but if you have many assets or want a little more protection I suggest increasing these limits to higher level of protection. Raising these limits to 100/300/100 only will cost a few extra dollars monthly. With the cost of healthcare the way it is you recommend you consider taking higher limits regardless of how many assets you have ownership.
There are many other ways to reduce your premiums and it shouldn’t start with taking a minimum amount of coverage.
